Chalcots Estate

Made up of 5 Tower blocks, four 23 storey tall blocks, and one 18 storey tall block all single staircase buildings. The whole estate was required to evacuate due to many issues of fire safety. The building had the same cladding as Grenfell tower installed by the same company. An independent Fire Safety Inspector found other failings such as combustible material around windows and lack of gas riser protections. Remediation costs close to £100m but will still not provide an alternative escape route, safety for those who need assistance, a sprinkler system, or clear access for the fire service.
